How to Prepare Your Pet
Preparing a pet for surgery is fairly similar to preparing a child for surgery. You will want to ensure they are comfortable and that an adult is present. A preanesthetic examination is always performed by one of our doctors on the day of surgery. This bloodwork will help to determine if your pet is a good candidate for anesthesia. Once we know this, we can proceed accordingly. Our professionals always treat your pets with the utmost respect.
Your pet may experience similar symptoms to a human after surgery. You will want to make sure someone is home with your pet that night. Some swelling and redness around the skin where the surgery was performed can be expected. It is also normal for your pet to seem sleepy or less coordinated. If you see any other signs for concern, you can contact our office and we’ll be happy to help.
As you and your pet approach surgery, we hope to put some of your fears to rest. The most important thing when approaching surgery is to know that your surgeon is experienced and capable. Our doctors have the expertise required to operate with ease and care.
