BUT BABY IT'S COLD OUTSIDE....
When you get inside from your winter walks make sure to check your dogs paws for excess snow, ice, and salt. Leaving debris between their toes can cause discomfort and can lead to sores. Keeping a towel by your door will help remind you and help keep your floors a bit cleaner during the season. If your dog spends a significant amount of time outside you'll need to increase their caloric intake and make sure they have pleanty of fresh water and a shelter to get in when the wind blows. Keeping fresh hay in a sturdy dog house makes a great place for your dog to burrow into during the winter months.
If you like to spend your winter evenings in front of the fireplace make sure to keep an eye on your pets. A warm hearth is a great place for your furry friends to curl up but sparks from the logs can fly out and cause damage. You can find pet beds that have special filling that helps to keep pets warm through the winter months.
